체첸 카듸로프 정권의 정당화 수단과 정당화 균열 요인 = Instruments for and Crack Factors of the Legitimation of Kadyrov’s Regime in Chechnya

The aim of this article is to analyze the instruments that Kadyrov’s regime in Chechen Republic as an authoritarian regime is using for self-legitimation and the crack factors that are inherent in this regime’s legitimation processes. Kadyrov’s regime is utilizing Chechen ‘traditional’ Islam, Chechen nationalism, and the stabilization of Chechnya, namely the Chechen economic recovery and the achievement of security in Chechnya, as the instruments for legitimation. The legitimation processes in which Kadyrov’s regime is using these instruments have such inherent crack factors as radical Islam, pro-Russian patriotism, and Chechen economic dependence on Russia and Chechen society’s discontent with coercive security.
