장르연구의 양상과 전망에 대한 소고: 멜로드라마 연구를 중심으로 = Some Notes on the aspects and issues of Study of Genre film in Korea: A study of Melodrama

This article examines distinctiveness of statue of genre film in Korea through researching the aspects of study of melodrama film which has been made recently. The melodrama has been perhaps popular and widespread movie genre in Korea, and lively argument has been made in that genre. Since 1950s, there has been inevitably a profound sense of an heterogeneity and hybridity being distincted from Hollywood genre development. Korean genre film is a hybrid form made of different genre languages. What this study tries to problematise is the matter of the difference in Korean genre film as positive and productive agenda, and the ways in which that Hollywood genre language was transformed and creatively transferred. The ultimate objective of this paper is to foster productive understanding of the heterogeneity of the modernity of Korea and Korean cinema.
