사회적 공감 능력 신장을 위한 사회과교육 방안 모색

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 사회적 공감 능력의 신장을 위한 사회과교육의 방안을 모색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 문헌 연구를 통해 사회적 공감의 의미와 구성 요소, 사회적 공감교육의 필요성에 대해 논하였다. 사회적 공감은 개인적 공감을 바탕으로 맥락적 이해와 거시적 관점을 수용하여 사회 문제에 대한 심층적인 분석과 이해를 가능하게 한다. 하지만 그동안 사회과교육은 이성 중심의 지식과 사고 학습에 치우쳐 배움이 실천으로 이어지지 않는다는 비판을 받아왔다. 따라서 이를 극복하기 위해서는 사회과교육에서의 정서적 확장이 필요하다. 그리고 이를 위해 감성 교육으로서 사회적 공감교육을 사회과교육의 새로운 대안으로 제시하였다. 구체적으로 사회적 공감 능력 신장을 위한 방안을 탐색하고 이를 바탕으로 사회과교육에서의 사회적 공감기반 수업모델을 구안하였다. 그리고‘난민’을 주제로 사회적 공감기반 수업모델에 적용한 사회과 수업사례를 제시하였다. 이러한 사회적 공감기반 수업은 사회 문제에 대한 심층적 이해와 이성과 감성을 아우르는 해결방안 모색과 합리적인 의사 결정, 그리고 사회적 책임감을 바탕으로 한 시민적 참여로 이어질 수 있도록 할 것이다. 본 연구가 사회과에서 사회적 공감교육을 처음 적용하고자 시도하였으며, 이를 위해 사회적 공감기반 수업모델과 구체적인 사회과 수업사례를 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 향후 후속 연구를 통해 본 연구에서 제시한 사회적 공감 수업의 사례를 적용하고 보완하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to explore methods of social studies education for the enhancement of social empathy. To this end, first, the meaning and components of social empathy and the need for social empathy education through the study of literature was discussed. Social empathy, based on personal empathy, embraces contextual understanding and macro-perspective-taking, an enabling in-depth analysis and understanding of social problems. However, social studies education has been criticized for its bias toward rational-centered knowledge and thinking learning, which does not lead to practice. Thus, the affective expansion in social studies education is necessary to overcome this. To this end, social empathy education as emotional education was presented as a new alternative to social studies education. Specifically, this study explored approaches to enhancing social empathy and devised a social empathy-based lesson model in social studies education based on them. It also presents examples of social studies lessons applied to the social empathy-based lesson models under the theme ‘immigrant’. These social empathy-based lessons will enable us to lead to in-depth understanding of social problems, in seeking solutions encompassing reason and emotion, rational decisionmaking, and civic participation based on social responsibility. This study is meaningful in that it is the first to apply social empathy education in the social studies, and for this purpose, it presents social empathy lesson models and specific cases of social studies lessons. It is necessary to apply and supplement the examples of social empathy lessons presented in this study through further research.
