이기백의 한국사 시대구분론 : 분류사를 중심으로 = Lee Ki-Baik's Theory of the Periodization of Korean History: With Focus on the Categorized Histories

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이기백의 한국사학에서 시대구분 문제는 학문적 생애 내내 가장 중요한 화두였다. 때문에 생전이나 사후 그의 한국사학을 이해할 때에 우선적으로 관심의 대상이 된 것은 시대구분론이었다. 이에 연구자들의 관심은 그의 개설서인 『한국사신론』으로 자연스럽게 이어져갔다. 그러나 이기백의 한국사학에서 시대구분론이 반영된 부분은 그와 같은 개설서만이 아니었다. 그는 분류사 연구를 통해서도 시대구분의 중요성을 일관되게 강조하였던 것이다. 그가 관심을 가졌던 사상사, 정치사, 사회사, 병제사, 문화사, 사학사 등의 개별 분류사를 통해서 또 다른 시대구분론을 보여주었다. 더욱이 그는 『한국사신론』과는 전혀 다른 개설서인 『우리 역사의 여러 모습』(1996)을 통해서 분류사 전체를 망라하는 새로운 형태의 개설서까지를 서술하려고 하였다. 따라서 이기백의 한국사 시대구분론은 그의 분류사 연구를 통해서 보다 전체적으로, 올바르게 파악될 것으로 생각된다. 이는 오늘의 한국사연구자들에게 시대구분론에 대한 관심이 여전히 매우 중요하다는 것을 일깨워주는 것이기도 하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Issues of the periodization in Korean historiography were an important topic throughout the academic career of Lee Ki-Baik. Thus, his theory of periodization has drawn interests of scholars when they try to understand his scholarship in Korean history before or after his death. Their interests naturally lead to his introductory book, "A New History of Korea." His theory of periodization, however, was not limited to his famous introductory book. He was consistent in emphasizing the importance of periodization in his research of the categorized histories. His theory of periodization was displayed in his discussion of the each categorized history of thoughts, politics, society, military systems, culture, or historiography. In addition to his book, "A New History of Korea," he tried to write a completely new type of an introductory book, "Various Faces of Our History (1996)", that covered whole areas of categorized histories. Therefore, his theory of the periodization of Korean history may be understood totally and correctly through the study of his research of categorized histories. It also reminds the contemporary researchers of the importance of the attention to the theory of periodization in Korean history.
