    규칙적인 운동의 중요성에 대한 사회적 인식이 확산됨에도 불구하고 운동부족이 주요원인이 되는 아이들의 비만 유병율은 빠른 속도로 증가하고 있다. 아동기 비만은 아동의 신체적/정신적 건강에 부정적 영향을 미칠뿐만 아니라 성인기의 건강에도 부정적 영향을 미칠 가능성이 높다는 점에서 문제의 심각성을 이해할 수 있다. 많은 학자들은 비만문제의 해결뿐만 아니라 국민의 전반적인 건강수준을 제고할 수 있는 가장 효과적인 장소는 학교라고 지적하고 있다. 아이들의 신체활동 참여를 촉진할 수 있는 개입 프로그램의 개발과 실행을 위해 아동의 신체활동 참여와 관련이 있는 요인들에 대한 이해는 매우 중요하다. 본 연구는 설문지를 사용하여 초등학교 4학년과 5학년 학생들의 운동참여 빈도에 따른 사회심리적 요인의 차이를 이해하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 데이터를 분석한 결과 운동참여 빈도가 많은 아이들은 그렇지 않은 아이들과 비교할 때 부모와 친구의 영향을 포함한 사회적 영향, 자기효능감, 그리고 신체활동의 참여를 통해 얻을 수 있는 혜택에 대해 긍정적으로 인식하는 경향이 있었다. 이와 같은 연구결과들은 아이들의 운동참여 촉진을 목적으로 개입 프로그램을 개발할 때 부모와 친구의 영향력 활용, 자기효능감 제고를 위한 전략사용, 그리고 운동의 가치에 대한 인지적 이해개발의 중요성에 대한 시사점을 제공한다.

    Regular physical activity provides children with important physical, mental, and social health benefits. In spite of these benefits, a rapid of decline in physical activity during childhood that result in rapid increase of obesity population. Physical activity habits developed in early life and may persist into adulthood. Therefore, promotion of physical activity must start early in life. Elementary school is considered as the most important place to develop positive attitude and perceived competence toward physical activity because it is a only place to reach all school aged children. It is necessary to develop intervention program to promote children participation in physical activity. The understanding on correlates of physical activity is a prerequisite factor to develop intervention program. This study is aimed to analyze the difference of psychosocial factors based on participation frequence of physical activity. The results of this study provide implications for teacher that using parent`s and peer`s influence, developing strategies to enhance self-efficacy, and teaching values of physical activity and providing enjoyable experience to value physical activity should be considered.
