강릉 상징성을 적용한 오픈소스 아두이노 의류 개발 = Development of Open-Source Arduino Apparel Incorporating the Symbolism of Gangneung

국문 초록 (Abstract)

강릉은 한반도의 동쪽 해안에 위치한 예향의 도시이다. 강릉은 유네스코가 지정한 강릉단오제라는 무형의 유산을 가지고 있으며, 동시에 아름다운 산맥과 드넓은 바다가 접해 있는 천혜의 자연 유산도 가지고 있다. 강릉시 이러한 유형과 무형의 유산을 보존하고 발전시키기 위하여 끊임없이 노력하고 있으며, 그의 일환으로 다양한 축제와 행사를 개최하고 있다. 강릉지역의 문화 관광 활성화 및 경제 발전에 기여할 수 있는 다양한 행사와 축제가 열리고 있지만, 각 행사에서 강릉의 정체성을 효과적으로 알릴 수 있는 의복들은 매우 부족한 실정이다. 이러한 상황에 따라 지역 행사 및 축제를 효과적으로 홍보함과 동시에 강릉의 정체성을 알릴 수 있는 의복의 개발은 반드시 필요한 과제라고 생각된다. 이와 같은 필요성에 의하여 본 연구에서는 강릉의 상징에 대한 시인성이 강조된 의복을 개발하고자 함에 목적이 있다.
목적을 수행하기 위한 연구의 단계는 첫째, 강릉의 상징성을 나타내는 이미지를 선정하였고, 둘째, 강릉의 상징적 이미지에 아두이노와 LED를 적용하였으며, 셋째, 강릉의 상징성이 표현된 아두이노와 LED를 적용한 의복을 디자인하였다, 마지막으로 디자인에 따라 의류를 제작하였다.
연구 단계를 거쳐 개발된 의복은 신한복스타일의 여성조끼와 남성조끼를 각각 1점이며, 소매를 탈부착하여 조끼와 점퍼로 동시에 활용할 수 있는 일상복스타일의 조끼·점퍼 2점도 완성하였다. 이때 적용된 상징이미지는 강릉시의 브랜트마크와 심벌마크 그리고 강릉단오캐릭터이며, 상징이미지의 시인성을 높이기 위하여 LED의 발광효과를 활용하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Gangneung, located on the eastern coast of the Korean Peninsula, is a city renowned for its cultural and natural heritage. It is home to the UNESCO-designated Intangible Cultural Heritage event, the Gangneung Danoje Festival, and is surrounded by stunning mountain ranges and expansive coastal landscapes. The city has consistently worked to preserve and promote both its tangible and intangible heritage through various festivals and cultural events. Although many festivals and events contribute to the revitalization of local culture, tourism, and economic development, apparel that effectively communicates and promotes Gangneung’s unique identity remains scarce. Therefore, the development of clothing that both highlights Gangneung’s symbolic imagery and enhances the visibility of its identity has become an essential task. In response to this need, the purpose of this study is to design and produce apparel emphasizing Gangneung’s symbolism through the integration of open-source Arduino technology. The research process consisted of the following steps: (1) selecting images representing Gangneung’s symbolism; (2) applying Arduino and LED technologies to these symbolic images; (3) designing apparel that incorporates Arduino and LEDs to emphasize Gangneung’s identity; and (4) producing the apparel based on the designs. The outcomes include two sets of apparel: one women’s vest and one men’s vest in a neo-traditional Hanbok style, and two everyday-style vests/jumpers with detachable sleeves, enabling them to function as both vests and jumpers. The symbolic images applied in the designs were Gangneung’s brand mark, city symbol, and the Gangneung Danoje Festival character. To enhance the visibility of these symbolic images, LED light effects were incorporated.
