초등교원 양성 체제의 문제점과 개선 방안

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 미래의 지식기반사회를 선도할 우수한 초등교원 양성에 적합한 교육체제의 모색을 위하여 (1) 우리나라 초등교원 양성 체제의 변천과정을 고찰하고, (2) 초등교원 양성 체제의 현황을 조명하였으며, (3) 초등교원 양성 체제의 문제점을 짚어보고, (4) 선진국들의 초등교원 양성 동향과 그 시사점을 토대로, (5) 우리나라 초등교원 양성 체제의 개선 및 발전 방향을 제시하였다. 그 결과 초등교원 양성기관의 영세성, 교육과정의 전문성 미흡, 유 ㆍ초 ㆍ 중등 교원양성의 연계성 미흡, 교원양성 기간연장의 필요성 대두 등이 문제점으로 지적되었고, 개선 및 발전 방향으로 (1) 국립의 특수 목적형 양성체제로 존속해야한다. (2)　중 ㆍ장기적으로 교육종합대학교로 확대 ㆍ 발전되어야 한다. (3) 교원교육과정의 내용과 운영이 개선되어야 한다. (4) 대학원 중심 교원교육보다는 평생교육체제를 강화하여 현직교육 기회를 확대해야한다 (5) 교육실습을 강화해야한다 (5) 교육실습을 강화해야한다 등을 제시하였다

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In order to find the better model of elementary teacher education system appropriate for the coming knowledge-based society, the present study (1) has reviewed the major change of elementary teacher education system in chronological order, (2) has illuminated the current status of elementary teacher education system, (3) has pointed out the problems of elementary teacher education system, (4) has introduced the recent trend of elementary teacher education in the advanced countries, and (5) has suggested the directions for the improvement and development of elementary teacher education system. As problems, this study pointed out the insufficient facility and finance in elementary teacher education institutions, the low expertise of teacher education curriculum, the poor linkage between early child, elementary, and high school teacher education, and the need for the extension of teacher education period. Finally, the present study suggested following directions for the improvement and development of elementary teacher education system: Elementary teacher education institutions (1) have to be long-lasted as national and goal-directed institutions, (2) have to be enlarged and developed toward the comprehensive education University in the long-run, (3) have to improve the content and management of teacher education curriculum, (4) have to extend the opportunity for the in-service teacher training through strengthening the life-long education system, and (5) have to strengthen the teaching practice of prospective teachers.
