대학 글쓰기 수업에서 카피킬러 표절 검사에 나타난 표절 양상과 교육 방안 연구 = A study of plagiarism patterns and pedagogical strategies identified through CopyKiller plagiarism detection in university writing classes

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구에서는 표절 검사 도구인 카피킬러를 활용하여 대학생 학술적 보고서에 나타난 표절 양상을 분석하고 그 결과를 활용한 인용·출처 교육 방안을 제시하였다. 이와 함께 카피킬러 프로그램의 특징과 한계점을 살펴보았다. 카피킬러는 번호 주석 방식, 간략 주석의 서술 주석 방식을 출처로 인식하지 못하였다. 또한 6어절 이상의 표현이 우연히 동일하여도 표절로 오인식하거나, 목차·참고문헌 정보를 표절로 잘못 인식하거나, 표절 범위를 부적절하게 판단하거나, 인용 포함 문장을 오인식하는 오류가 관찰되었다. 대학생 보고서를 카피킬러로 표절 검사를 실행한 결과, 대학생 보고서에 인용·주석과 관련하여 인용 표기 오류, 출처 미제시, 출처 표기 미흡 등의 문제가 파악되었다. 대학 글쓰기 교육에서 표절 검사 도구를 활용할 때는 표절 검사 도구의 특징과 한계를 명확하게 숙지하게 하고, 사례 중심의 교육이 이루어지도록 해야 하며, 표절 검사 결과를 학생 스스로 점검할 수 있도록 지도하는 것이 필요하다. 또한 기본적인 윤리의식을 강화하고 인용 방법에 대한 교육도 심도 있게 진행해야 함을 제안하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study utilized CopyKiller, a plagiarism detection tool, to analyze citation and annotation errors found in university students’ academic reports and to propose educational improvement strategies. In addition, the study examined both the features and limitations of the CopyKiller program. The analysis revealed that CopyKiller failed to recognize certain citation formats, such as numbered references and descriptive notes for abbreviated citations. Furthermore, the program misidentified coincidental sequences of six or more words as plagiarism, incorrectly classified tables of contents and reference lists as copied text, and inaccurately determined the scope of plagiarism or misrecognized sentences containing quotations.
The results of plagiarism detection on student reports showed recurring problems related to citation and annotation, including incorrect citation marking, omission of sources, and insufficient source information. When plagiarism detection tools are used in university writing education, it is essential that students clearly understand the characteristics and limitations of these tools. Instruction should emphasize case-based learning and help students develop the ability to independently review plagiarism detection results. This study also suggests that writing education should reinforce fundamental academic ethics and provide in-depth instruction on proper citation practices.
