The purpose of this study was to develop a test for the diagnoses of emotional and behavioural problems in preschool children. First, the categories and sub-categories of the problems were developed: externalizing (aggression, over-activity, antisocial), internalizing (emotional, psychosis, social-withdrawal) and mixed (immature, habit, sex) problems. One hundred and forty two children were administered an exploratory test for this population and three hundred and thirty seven children received the modified version. The coefficients of x^2 and Cramer`s V, factor loadings, correlation between categories, and Cronbach`s alpha were relatively high. Thus, results indicate that the test developed in this study was efficient in diagnosing preschool children`s emotional and behavioural problems. Standardization, cut-off scores and the development of norms remain to be completed.
