중국의 사회적기업 현황과 등장 원인 = Chinese Social Enterprises and the Reasons for Their Emergence

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

With the worldwide increasing interests in the social enterprise, China also develops various types of social enterprises. However, Chinese social enterprises are distinguished from the conventional ones as they emerged from the background of particular Chinese economic history including its economic reform. This paper investigates the current status of Chinese social enterprises and the reasons for their emergence by analysing it into structural, national, and societal factor. In China, the embryonic form of social enterprise goes as early as cooperative or collective organizations of 1950s when the People’s Republic of China was founded. But with the start of economic reform and opening policy and its further harsh impact on the society, especially to the rural society, Chinese govern- ment seeks to solve its social problems by promoting social enterprises’ activities. It introduced the building of ‘harmonious society’ which emphasize both the balanced growth and distribution as the national agenda and actively tries to involving the society’s economic potential for achieving it. Thus, this paper concludes that Chinese social enterprises have been developed with the changes in the society and corresponding changes in government policy.
