Many contemporary philosophers are concerned with a purely linguistic or axiomatic analysis of the systems of knowledge and value. They accordingly tend to consider the problem of philosophy unique and independent of other problems og men and society.
In this article, it is contended that philosophers various systems of value and knowledge be considered to be the by-products of the quest for solution of such pressing problems as labor-management disputes, international and intergroup conflictot ideology, confrontation of government and its constituent people, etc. From such a standpoint, philosophy os a practical and social enterprise, an integral part of a whole human activity of problem-solving.
It is therefore attempted at making the philosophical studies of value and knowledge relevant to the problems of policy decision in social situations snof man. Conflict, organization, and decision are found to be the most important philosophical concepts to constitute the main problems of the policy sciences.
We reviewed a brief history of western political philosophy in order to introduce a classical concept of conflict, organization, and decision. But it is understood that the tradition of political philosophy is not the onlyresource in which the original concepts of the policy sciences are found. Finally, a current view of the policy sciences is sidcussed as the common concern of the philosopher and the social sciertist.
