동북아시아 진출방식에 대한 연구 = A Study on the Entry Mode of the Railway Service Providers in Northeast Asia

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Trade between countries in Northeast Asia has increased and many manufacturers are expanding their business to Northeast Asia. As the corporations are interested in using the intermodal transportation system with railroad, Korean manufacturers who would expand their business to Northeast Asia need more stable transport services. Therefore, it is necessary to find out a desirable overseas entry mode for the railway service providers in order to offer better services. This study investigated some factors affecting to establish an overseas hub to invest and also selected relevant evaluation factors and alternatives with railway experts` opinions to influence on entry mode decision-making. The survey of experts in railway business was conducted and analyzed relative importance of evaluation factors and alternatives by using AHP. The result indicated that the top priority of the first-level criteria was the market surroundings of the local country, the following were the expertise of railway service providers and the easiness of receiving government support. The subordinate criterion was the market growth potential, the following were the market accessibility, the financial viability and the security of manpower. The combination of Korea railroad and private enterprise and joint venture in a foreign market was the most important entry alternative out of the five.
