용서, 성격과 주관적 안녕감 간의 관련성 탐색

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 용서의 세가지 구인인 용서하기, 자기용서와 용서빌기 간의 관련성을 탐색하고, 이들 세 용서구인이 성격, 주관적 안녕감과 어떠한 관련성이 있는지를 분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 대학교의 대학생과 대학원생 314명을 대상으로 용서, 성격과 주관적 안녕감을 측정하였다. 세 용서 구인을 대상으로 요인분석을 실시한 결과 2개의 용서 구인이 발견되었다. 첫 번째 구인은 용서하기와 자기용서의 정적 관련을 나타내는 구인이었고 두 번째 구인은 용서빌기와 자기용서의 부적 관련을 나타내는 구인이었다. 성격 특성이 용서에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 외향적일수록, 친화성이 높을수록 용서를 더 잘하는 경향을 보였다. 신경증이 적을수록, 외향적일수록, 경험에 대해 개방적일수록, 성실할수록 자기용서 수준도 높아졌다. 신경증이 적을수록, 친화성이 높을수록 용서빌기 수준도 높았다. 용서 구인이 주관적 안녕감과 정적 관련이 있었고 용서빌기와 주관적 안녕감 간에는 유의한 관련성이 없었다. 용서와 주관적 안녕감 간의 관련성은 성격을 통해 매개되고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The current study is aimed to explore the relationship between forgiveness, personality and subjective well-being. Forgiveness consists of three constructs of offering forgiveness by victim, seeking forgiveness by offender, and self-forgiveness. The constructs of forgiveness were examined for their impact on subjective well-being and the influence on them by five components of personality. A total of 341 college students were administered with self-reported measures of forgiveness, personality, and subjective well-being. A exploratory factor analysis showed that two factors were obtained with eigen values being greater than l; (a) offering forgiveness either other(s) or themselves and (b) seeking forgiveness (in conjunction with self-unforgivableness). People who forgive their offender(s) or themselves are more likely to have a high level of subjective well-being. But this was not the case for people who seek forgiveness. The relationship between forgiveness and subjective well-being is mediated by personality. This implies that impact of forgiveness on subjective well-being is driven from personality. Educational and counseling implications were also discussed.
