An affinity with nature has been a long tradition in Korean Poetry. In Korean nature poetry, nature has not been perceived as an object but as an order which should be in harmony with human beings as a whole. Therefore, nature in Korean nature poetry is expressed as a manifestation of sentiments. This contrasts with the western view of nature in which nature is perceived as an object. It also contrasts with the view of nature in modern civilization which sees nature as otherness. An affinity with nature in Korean nature poetry can be a precious groundwork to overcome a crisis in modern civilization. Given this, traditional aesthetics in Korean nature poetry deserve to be re-appreciated.
