글의 최상위 구조 파악 전략이 설명문 이해 및 회상에 미치는 효과 -중학교 3학년을 대상으로- = The effect of top-level structure strategy in comprehension and recollecting of explanation essay

Based on Meyer``s theory on the explanation essay structure analysis among theories of analyzing text structures, this study aimed to develop a strategy to understand structure of explanation essay, which was applicable to a situation of our reading class. The study also objected to prove the effects of the strategy on the third grade students of a middle school in understanding and recollecting of explanation essay. In order to do that thirty-five of third grade students were selected from three classes with same level of Korean skills from D middle school. located in Seoul. Then restricted groups were formed as Test Group A and Test Group B. A prior and post recollection tests were conducted and test results were summed by upper-level structure, mid-level structure, and lower-level structure. Then the scores were concluded by the structure levels. In addition, for the statistical analysis of the test results, ANOVA was performed to verify prior and post analyses of test groups. For the post analysis, Scheffe``s one-way ANOVA and Paired T- Test within a group was preformed; thus all of following hypotheses were verified. Hypothesis 1: The top-level structure applied text structure comprehension strategy would be effective in understanding and recollecting of explanation essay. Hypothesis 2: The top-level structure applied text structure comprehension strategy would be effective in comprehending the structure of explanation essay. Hypothesis 3: The recollection modes of two groups, one had been educated by top-level structure strategy and the other have not. must show some differences. Hypothesis 4: In two groups with the top-level structure applied text structure education Test Group A and B would show different modes in recollecting explanation essay.
