The definition that an essay is free from form or restriction means that we can write anything we want to write. In this aspect, To understand the content of the essay is a important issue in reading essay. I wrote this thesis with the intention of finding out what rhetoric devices are implied in regulation that essay is the formless form and what part the devices do in the process of communication. When we read the writing with the property of genre, I think that it is important to recognize the fact that inner form is the product of the effort adjusting the conflicts of various powers. In this context, The strategy guessing negotiation aspects of contradicting powers is needed when we read an essay. In this thesis, I clarified the fact that an essay is not free writing and it has the inner form produced in the intention adjusting the relation with readers III the process of communication. Furthermore, I found out the fact that the inner form of an essay becomes a form of the pursuit of independence in the relation of readers, therefore, it leads technique object and readers to a certain direction. In conclusion, I suppose that the reading structure premised in the inner form of an essay is reading by responding, the reader``s intuition about described experience operate on the structure of reading by responding. I explained that readers could understand the experiences chosen as materials m an essay taking advantage of common sensibility. When a novel and an essay are compared by the property of genre, an novel is a form to pursue the missed essence and an essay is a form of independence to search how main idea is expanded with a positive way in given circumstances. In an essay affirming the present, absence, lack and desire are repressed. Instead, an essay is trying to lead a present life into new system by making relations. that is, producing new conjunctions. When we read an essay, Cultural connection becomes significant at this point. Cultural connection as a level of living way could be a suitable standard to understand an essay giving a value to existence itself than investigating the other side of existence.
