요트대회와 도서지역의 발전: 미륵도 이순신장군배 국제요트대회 사례를 중심으로 = Sailing Event and Island Region`s Development: Focused on the Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race held in Mireukdo

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper studied whether sailing events had an effect on the development and improvement of islands areas. The subject of this case analysis is the Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race that has been annually held in the Mireuk Island of Tongyeong since 2007. The purpose of this paper is to examine the general characteristics of visitor. The study obtained information on sailing events and sightseeing in order to discuss the expenditure-income analysis of the yacht race. The results are the following First, people visiting Tongyeong for tourism such as enjoying food or boarding the cable car joined the sailing events as an extra sightseeing event. Second, verbal marketing turned out to be the most effective method in gathering information on sailing events. In addition, visitors preferred to see the sailing events through the observation platform and screen, and preferred physical experience on yachts and marine culture compared to other activities. Last of all, sailing events seemed to need appropriate planning and consideration on income being flowed into the local community and expenditure being consumed. In conclusion, sailing events should be settled as a local festival, and is expected to act as a driving force to the local community’s economy.
