고전 전통 캐릭터의 현대적 변용과 생성형 AI를 통한 재해석 -공연예술로서의 새로운 창작과 활용방안 탐색- = Reinterpretation through Modern Transformation and Generative AI of Classical Traditional Characters -Exploration of New Creation and Application as Performing Arts-

This study aims to analyze the characteristics and modern transformation patterns by comparing the characters of “Simcheongjeon” in Korean classical narratives and “Simcheong” in modern poetry, and to derive the value of the character and reinterpret it as a performing art through Generative AI technology. The purpose of this study is to explore whether it is possible to provide value and creativity as a performing art using traditional characters today.
While the character “Simcheong” has long been recognized as an icon of filial piety and sacrifice and has embodied the traditional female image, Shimcheong in modern poetry has been recreated as a new female being who consistently recognizes her desires and explores her identity in relationships with others. Based on this, this study analyzed the value and transformation process, focusing on the characters appearing in the two literatures, and suggested how the Generative AI expands based on this reinterpretation and is used in today's performing arts. As a result of the study, Generative AI presented a reconstruction of the character Shimcheong, a narrative transformation, and a new expansion and realization on the stage, which showed that the modern use of the newly born Shimcheong can play a sufficiently valuable role by creating a creative ecosystem familiar to the public today. Through this study, we hope that the transformation of classical literature will lead to the expansion of performing arts in the future, and the use of AI can be suggested as an instrumental method for this.
