The study area is a small valley named 「Gawaji」, which located on the right bank of the Han-River. The analytic methods, such as alluvium stratigraphy, diatom, and pollen, are employed for this study. The main findings are as follows; The Postglacial transgression was reached to the Gawaji valley at about 6,000years before present (B.P.). It is inferred that the climax of the transgression occurred about 5,000 years B.P.. From this time to 3,200 years B.P., the sea level was stabilized and peat layers and Alnus forests were formed in the bay mouth.
