品詞 分類에서의 학자들의 견해상 차이에 대한 考察 = A Study on the Difference in Classification of the Parts of Speech between South and North Koreans

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The aim of this paper is to examine the characteristics of the classification of the parts of speech for Korean language in South Korean, Chosun, and Chinese grammar books in accordance with differences in standard, system setting of the classification, and sub-classification. Based on the characteristic examination, issues arising in effectivity and validity of different claims are identified.
As for the difference in standard of the classification, whether the expletive function of words can be a standard of the classification of the parts of speech was examined based on the following literature: Chosun Language Theory and Grammar by Go, Shin-sook; Chosun Grammar by Choi, Yun-gap; Chosun Grammar by the Chosun Language Publication in 3 Northeast Provinces; Chosun Culture and Grammar Standard; Korean Language Study by Huh, Woong; Korean GrammarStudy by Min, Hyeon-shik; and Standard Korean Grammar by Nam, Gi-shim and Go, Young-geun. As for the difference in setting a system for the classification of the parts of speech, conflicting claims in deciding ideophones and propositional words were examined based on the following literature: Standard Korean Grammar by Nam, Gi-shim and Go, Young-geun; Korean Morphology in the 20th Century by Huh, Woong; Korean Grammar Lecture by Lee, Ik-seop and Chae, Wan; Chosun Grammar I; Chosun Culture and Grammar Standard; ChosunGrammar by Choi, Yun-gap; Modern Chosun Language by Gang, Eun-gook; and Chosun Grammar(Morphology) by Lee, Geun-young. As for the sub-classification of the parts of speech, claims andcharacteristics found in sub-classification of nouns, numerals, pronouns, and determiners are compared and analyzed based on the following literature: Chosun Language Theory and Grammar (Morphology) by Lee, Geun-young; Modern Chosun Language by Gang, Eun-gook; Standard Korean Grammar by Nam, Gi-shim and Go, Young-geun; Chosun Language Theory and Grammar (Accidence) by Go,Shin-sook;Advanced Korean Grammar by Lee, Sung-nyeong; Introduction of Korean Language Study by Lee, Hee-seung; Korean Grammar by Kim, Min-soo; Korean Language Study by Huh, Woong.
The result of the analysis of the above three categories was asfollows. In South Korean grammar books, the standard of the classification was centered on meaning due to its dependence on the traditional grammar. Moreover three parameters of function, form, and meaning were applied at random and dependent propositional words tend to be defined as independent words. On the other hand Chosun grammar books emphasized studies on a dependence pattern and valued syntax.
