    Recently, as globalization has accelerated and social changes have deepened, the importance of establishing effective policies to solve social problems has been emphasized. Accordingly, various industrial innovation models, such as user-centered innovation, open innovation, and design innovation, are being presented as a means of solving social problems. In particular, since the concept of Living Lab was introduced in Korea in 2014, Living Lab complements existing innovation models and presents a new direction for solving major social problems at the national level. Existing research and development models show limitations in bringing about real improvements in life and social system innovation. On the other hand, living labs show the possibility of solving problems and building new social and technological systems through direct participation of users in real life. Living Lab is an open innovation model in which users directly participate within the community, and its value is recognized and its scope of use is expanding.
    In this study, the correlation and differentiation between new industrial innovation models, including living labs, were analyzed based on previous research. The characteristics and potential of living labs were explored by comparing them with the three existing major industrial innovation models (user innovation, open innovation, design innovation, etc.). Despite the relatively short period since living labs were introduced in Korea, they are playing an important role in solving community problems. Through this analysis, this study sought the possibility of solving social problems through living labs, and based on this, sought to develop more developed industrial innovations and improvement plans and discourses on living labs.

Accordingly, various industrial innovation models, such as user-centered innovation, open innovation, and design innovation, are being presented as a means of solving social problems.
