『이륜행실도(二倫行實圖)』에 보이는 관계 윤리의 교육적 의미 = The Educational Implications of Relational Ethics in Yiryunhaengsildo (二倫行實圖)

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of relational ethics in Yiryunhaengsildo (二倫行實圖) and discuss its educational implications. As an ethic of kinship, ‘shu’ (序, order) appears in Hyungjedo (兄弟圖) and Jongjokdo (宗族圖). Hyungjedo (兄弟圖) presented the ethics of reciprocal relationships between brothers as an educational virtue, instead of the dominance of the elder brother or the absolute submission of the younger, through anecdotes of rescuing brothers in crisis and distributing property. Jongjokdo (宗族圖) expanded the scope of the family to the clan and sought to establish a theistic family ethic through a patriarchal family order that emphasized hierarchy. As an ethic of non-kinship relationships, ‘xin’ (信, fidelity) appeared in Bungwoodo (朋友圖) and Sasaengdo (師生圖). Bungwoodo (朋友圖) extended ethics to social relationships not mediated by kinship or office, and presented an ethic of friend and colleague relationships familiar to the common people. Sasaengdo (師生圖) demonstrated deference to the teacher and exemplary priestly relationships, and introduced reverence premised on the teacher’s scholarship. Yiryunhaengsildo (二倫行實圖) called for horizontal ethical practice by focusing on the horizontal order of human relationships, and sought to establish a relationship ethic based on Neo-Confucianism in local communities, and promoted the practice of virtue through intuitive and simple anecdotes.
