전남지역 산업단지의 클러스터 속성 분석에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Analysis of Innovative Clusters in Jeonnam Area

This study aims to analyze innovative clusters and to provide policy directions on the cluster system development. An innovative cluster, which is defined as a geographic concentration of related companies and institutions in a particular industry field, now plays a critical role as a source of innovation and knowledge production, rather than a geographical proximity which can simply reduce costs in production.
In order to strengthen the competitiveness of industry and regional economies, innovative clusters are to be boosted at the national and regional levels in most advanced countries as well as our country. Considering the importance of this issue, however, few empirical research have been conducted.
This study reviews relevant theories and analytic methodologies on innovative clusters and deduces four indices as a measurable scale. Using the scale a survey on national industrial complex in Jeonnam area is conducted. Finally, a discussion on the result of analysis is followed by some practical suggestions.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

과거 산업화시대에는 양적 성장 중심의 정책에 의한 산업단지가 조성되어 왔으나 오늘날 우리가 당면하고 있는 지식기반경제에서는 혁신 주도형 성장을 위한 혁신클러스터 구축이 강조되고 있다. 혁신클러스터는 지리적으로 인접한 상호 긴밀하게 연계된 기업들과 관련 기관들이 네트워크 구축을 통해 혁신과 사업기회를 확대하는 것으로, 종래의 생산 및 거래비용의 감소를 위한 단순한 산업집적지로서의 역할을 넘어서서, 기술혁신과 지식창출의 근원지이며 지역경쟁력 제고의 원천으로서 그 역할이 강조되고 있다. 정부에서는 ‘산업단지 혁신클러스터화 사업’을 추진해오고 있는데, 지역 클러스터 정책은 지역과 전략산업의 특성에 따라 수립되어야 하기 때문에 산업단지별 클러스터 속성 분석이 요구된다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 클러스터에 대한 이론적 고찰과 분석방법론을 도출하고 전남지역 국가산업단지의 클러스터 속성 분석에 적용함으로써 향후 클러스터 정책추진에 있어서 몇 가지 정책적인 시사점을 제시하였다
