6시그마와 같은 혁신프로젝트 평가는 혁신의 성공을 위해서 매우 중요한 과정임에도 불구하고 현재까지 체계적인 학술연구는 거의 진행되지 못했다. 프로젝트마다 목표가 다르고 평가시 고려해야 할 요인도 차이가 크며 또한 정성적(Qualitative)인 항목이 많기 때문이다. 이러한 상황적 차이가 있기 때문에 몇 가지 공통된 평가항목으로 프로젝트 추진 결과에 대해서 평가하는 현재의 방식은 프로젝트 평가 결과의 해석과 활용에 한계가 있다. 이러한 문제를 인지지도(Cognitive Map)를 이용한 6시그마 프로젝트 평가 방법론을 제안하여 극복하고자 한다. 인지지도를 이용하면 현상에 대한 원인을 알 수 있고, 특정 현상에 대해 미래 상황을 추론해 볼 수 있다. 따라서 인지지도를 6시그마 프로젝트 평가에 활용하면 프로젝트 추진 환경과 중간 진행 상황만으로도 최종 결과를 예측해 볼 수 있기 때문에, 프로젝트 평가가 기존의 결과 평가에 머무는 것에서 프로젝트 성공을 위한 과정관리로 활용될 수 있는 패러다임의 변화를 기대할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 인지지도를 이용한 6시그마 프로젝트 평가 체계를 구축해 나가는 과정을 제시하고 구축된 인지지도를 활용하여 6시그마 프로젝트 평가에 어떻게 활용할 수 있을 지에 대해서 제시 한다. 그리고 인지지도를 이용한 프로젝트 평가와 기존의 프로젝트 평가 방식에 대해 6시그마 전문가 평가를 통해 우수성을 검증하였다.
