It is important to study the database integration method in the distributed database systems due to the development of communication technologies and computing systems. Before introducing the distributed system technology, the local database system have been developed their own data model, transaction management, and physical storage structure. This paper provides a data model integration method in multidatabase system(MDBS) which consists of each local autonomy in the distributed system.
This paper suggests two steps for data models integration in MDBS. The first step is the schema transformation from the different data models to the intermediate canonical schema using the Entity- Relationship data model. The second step is the schema integration with the intermediate schema to the global conceptual schema. The schema integration occurs in a sequence the following 4 steps : preintegration, comparison, conformation, and merging and restructuring.
