In order to evaluate the performance of washing machines, repeated experiments are required with numbers of machines and experimenters. In this study, effects of these variables and the method of attachment and the simultaneous washing of various artificially soiled fabrics were statistically analyzed. As the artificially soiled fabrics, six different types such as EMPA116, EMPA101, AS3, AS9 WFK 10D and Japanese wet type were selected. The soiled fabrics were washes by the commercially available washing machines and detergent at various washing conditions. The results showed that the variation in experimenters and machines of same model did not affect the detergency in addition to that there was no interactions between the two factors. Detergency was not influenced by the method of attachment of artificially soiled fabric onto dummy fabrics; by fixing one upper part of the soiled fabrics, labor and time was saved. Simultaneous washing of the EMPA116 and wfk 10D, AS3 and AS9, and EMPA101 and Japanese wet type did not affect the detergency when compared to the of washing them seperately. This result indicates that simultaneous washing is not only very much time saving but also gives much information effectively because different soiled fabrics can give different reaction for various washing conditions.
