피의자 수사에서 진술분석 활용방안 = Utilizing Statement Analysis in Suspect Investigations

In criminal investigations, assessing the credibility of the suspect's statements is as important as evaluating the victim's statements. This paper examined the principles of statement analysis and the effectiveness of various statement analysis tools in determining suspect’s veracity. This study explained the principles of statement analysis by reviewing the principles of memory and statement strategies. In South Korea, SVA, RM, and SCAN are primarily used for statement analysis. The review of the effectiveness of these techniques found that CBCA and RM are supported by various empirical studies, while the effectiveness of SCAN is limited. Finally, this paper proposed ways to utilize statement analysis in suspect investigations, dividing the approach into statement analysis targets, expert systems, and procedures, and highlights precautions for each stage of statement analysis. In conclusion, the meaning of utilizing statement analysis in suspect investigations was discussed.
