지각 내용의 개념성과 지시적 개념

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지각 경험의 내용이 개념적인가, 아니면 비개념적인가라는 물음에 대해 개념주의와 비개념주의가 대립해 왔다. 이 논문은 양 진영의 논점과 논란의 핵심이 무엇인지를 확인한 후, 비개념주의적 관점을 옹호하는 방안을 모색하는 데에 목적을 둔다. 먼저 Ⅰ절에서는 지각 내용의 개념성에 대한 문제제기가 어떻게 이루어졌는지를 보이면서 개념주의와 비개념주의 간의 대립되는 논점을 비교 하겠다. Ⅱ절에서는 개념주의자들의 해결책 중 하나인 지시적 개념의 도입을 비판한 켈리의 논변과 이에 대한 츄어드의 반론을 보여준다. Ⅲ절에서는 츄어드의 비판이 갖는 문제점들을 드러낸 후 다른 각도에서 지각 내용의 개념성 문제를 접근할 수 있음을 논하겠다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

On the question whether our perceptual contents are conceptual or nonconceptual, there are two competing theories: conceptualism and non-conceptualism. The purposes of this paper are to look into their argument points and essential claims and to look for the way of defending non-conceptualism. In the first section, I show what the problem of conceptuality of perceptual content is and what the main theses of the two theories are. The second section introduces Sean Kelly's counter-argument against the conceptualist tactics using the notion of demonstrative concept and Philippe Chuard's critique of Kelly's argument. My defense of Kelly's argument by criticizing Chuard's ideas is presented in the third section, where my idea that we can approach the problem of conceptuality of perceptual content and confrontation of the two theories from a different viewpoint is also suggested.
