The purpose of this study was to explore children's use status of computer and video games, and their left and right cerebral development according to computer games use frequency using the BGA test to analyze how children's engaged computer games at daily life, and inquire into the effect of the computer games on abstracting, verbal thinking, numerical calculating, referring, cohering, constructing, visual discerning, and perceiving abilities. For this research, following study issues were set.

1-3. How is concern about computer games?
1-4. How often are computer games played?
1-5. How does one time computer game last?
1-6. What type of computer games are preferred?
1-7. Do parents feel any difficulty in stopping children from playing computer games?
1-8. How do parents recognize computer games?
[Research Problem 2] Can you figure out any significant difference in cerebral development as a result of testing BGA tests between the children playing computer games and those not playing computer games?
2-1. Which part of left and right cerebral development does children's played computer games have more effect on?
[Research Problem 3] Is there any significant difference at 8 BGA test items between the children playing many computer games and those not playing them?
3-1. Does computer games have a significant effect on children's abstracting ability?
3-2. Does computer games have a significant effect on children's verbal thinking ability?
3-3. Does computer games have a significant effect on children's numerical calculating ability?
3-4. Does computer games have a significant effect on children's reasoning ability?
3-5. Does computer games have a significant effect on children's cohering ability?
3-6. Does computer games have a significant effect on children's constituting ability?
3-7. Does computer games have a significant effect on children's visual insights?
3-8. Does computer games have a significant effect on children's recognizing speed?
To verify the above research goal, the study conducted a questionnaire to 106 children of full 3 or 5 years old at a kindergarten located in Gyeonggi-do, and carried out a BGA test to 71 of them, and statistically analyzed the data. To verify the research hypothesis, the study conducted Frequency Analysis, Crosstabulation, ANOVA(one-way arrangement and distribution analysis) using SPSS 10.0, and made its statistical significance level P< .05.
Major findings of this study are as follows.
First, it was indicated that 83% of full 3 or 5 year old children play computer games, and they enter into computer games between full 2.5 or 3 years old on average.
Second, it was indicated that at frequency of computer games, about 1 or 4 times a week accounts for 64.4% of the total, and at duration time of computer games, 30 minutes or 1 hour accounts for the most with 55.3%.
Third, it was indicated that at children's preferred games, on-line 'children's portal site' games were the most with 53.6%, followed by arcade games with 36.1%.
Fourth, 85% of parents answered that they do not have trouble stopping games, and 4.6% of them answered that it is very difficult. At parent recognition of games, neutral recognition was the most with 68.9%, and negative recognition was 15.1%.
Fifth, it was clarified that children's daily experience of computer games had an effect on cerebral development, which influenced more left brain than right one. It was indicated that the children playing many computer games showed more developed left brain area, while those not did more developed right brain area as a result of BGA test.
Sixth, children's daily experience of computer games had an effect on their abstracting, recognizing speed.
Seventh, children's daily experience of computer games did not have an effect on their cohering ability, which was high in the children sustaining games for long.
Eighth, children's daily experience of computer games did not have an effect on numerical calculating, verbal thinking, reasoning, constituting abilities, and visual insights.
