한국 생태시티즌십(ecological citizenship) 인식유형에 관한 경험적 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국 시민들의 환경관련 인식을 생태시티즌십 논의을 이론적 자원으로 하고, Q방법을 이용하여 경험적으로 분석하였다. 생태시티즌십 논의는 환경관련 인식이 생태적, 사회적, 정치적, 경제적, 국제적, 그리고 과학기술과 복합적으로 얽혀있음을 드러내는 출발점을 제공하고, Q방법론은 특정 이슈에 대한 사람들의 주관성을 밝히는데 유용하다. 생태시티즌십과 관련된 58개의 진술문에 대한 46명의 응답을 토대로 한국사회에 존재하는 5가지 인식유형(생태적 세계시민주의, 낭만적 풍요주의, 동정적 소비주의, 영토적 개발주의, 피상적 보수주의)을 추출하였다. ‘생태적 세계시민주의’는 생태시티즌십 논의에서 규범적으로 바람직하다고 상정하는 지구적인 수준에서 생태적이면서도 민주적인 시민상과 상당히 유사하였다. 나머지 유형들은 환경문제 일반, 사회적 관계, 시장경제, 국제관계, 과학기술에 대한 태도 등에서 상이한 입장을 드러냈다. 이 연구는 우리 사회에 존재하는 여러 유형의 복합적이면서도 이질적인 환경인식이 어떻게 존재하는지를 드러냄으로써 한국적 생태시민과 생태민주주의 논의의 구체화에 기여한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper empirically analyzes Koreans’ perceptions relate environment with adopting the concept of ecological citizenship as a theoretical resource and Q methodology as a methodology. Ecological citizenship shows ecological subjects and environmental perception are constellations of the ecological, social, political, economic, international, and science-technology. Q methodology is well developed to disclosure person’s subjectivity on a specific issues. In this research 58 statements on ecological citizenship are sorted by 46 Q sorters, then 5 types of perception on ecological citizenship in Kora are extracted; ecological cosmo-politanism, romantic affluent-ism, sympathetic consumerism, territorial developmentalism, shallow conservatism. Ecological cosmopolitanism is very similar to globally ecological and democratic citizen who is supposed to be normally ideal by the theory of ecological citizenship. Others are distinguished from ecological cosmopolitanism by perceptions on environment, social relations, maket economy, international relation, and science-technology. This results show us how complex and different environmental perceptions exist, then give insights on concrete shape of ecological citizen and ecological democracy in Korea.
