An understanding the long-term changes in temperature and precipitation patterns is important to the detection and attribution of climate change and to the implications of climate change to perform impact assessments. The objective of this study is to determine whether climate change and urbanization has caused temporal changes in precipitation and temperature in South Korea. We present a statistically robust method to quantify abrupt changes of temperature and precipitation in specific periods of time. We delineated a fingerprint of temporal changes on temperature and precipitation due to climate change and urbanization based on statistical significant differences at annual and monthly timescales.
