박경리 『토지』연구의 통시적 고찰 = A Diachronic Study on the Research Tendency of Park Kyeong Ni"s Novel Toji(土地)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

박경리 『토지』에 대한 평단의 반응은 2부가 연재된 1973년부터 시작되었다. 1973년부터 3부 연재가 끝난 1980년까지를 ‘『토지』 연구 1기’라고 할 수 있는데 연구자들은 주로 『토지』의 장르에 대해 논의하였다. 즉 연구자에 따라『토지』를 역사소설 또는 농민소설, 총괄체 소설 등으로 규정하고, 각자가 규정한 장르의 이상적인 소설 양식을 가정하고, 『토지』가 그러한 기준에 합당한가에 대해 논의한 것이다.
4부와 5부가 연재된 1981년부터 1997년까지는 ‘『토지』 연구 2기’라고 할 수 있다. 이 시기에 박경리는『토지』 1, 2, 3부의 성과에 힘입어 대가(大家)의 지위를 인정받았다. 이 시기 『토지』 연구는 이전과 비교할 수 없이 양적, 질적으로 확대되었다. 『작가 세계』나 『현대 문학』등의 문예지에서 여러 연구자들의 글을 묶어 ‘기획 특집’을 낸 것도 이 시기 연구의 특징이다.
1998년 이후 『토지』 연구의 중심은 평론가 그룹에서 문학 연구자 그룹으로 옮겨간다. 연구 결과의 발표 지면 역시 문예지에서 학술논문집으로 바뀌었다. 이 시기에는 박경리와 『토지』 연구를 주제로 한 단행본 및 박사학위 논문이 다수 나왔다. 박경리와『토지』연구로 박사학위를 받은 연구자들은 서로 소통하면서 본격적으로 『토지』연구의 성과를 심화시켰다.
이상의 성과를 바탕으로 2014년에는 ‘토지 학회’가 창립되었다. 토지학회는 수많은 『토지』 연구자들을 네트워크화시켰고, 대중과의 학문적 소통도 시도하고 있다. ‘토지 학회’의 출범으로『토지』 연구의 주제는 더욱 깊고 다양해질 것으로 예상된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Critics response of Park Kyeong Ni"s Novel Toji(土地) has started in 1973, when the Part II was serialized. Between the 1973 to 1980, when Part III serializations ended, can refer to "the Initial Stage of Research on Toji" and the researchers mainly discussed about the genre of Toji. Namely, defining Toji as a historical novel, agricultural novel, comprehensive total novel, et cetera by researchers, assume the ideal form of novel of the genre defined by themselves, and discuss weather Toji is eligible for those standards.
Between 1981 to 1997, when the Part IV and V appeared, can refers to "the Second Stage of Research on Toji". Park Kyeong Ni was recognized as the master in her field at that time, thanks to the successes of the Part I, II, III of Toji. The research on Toji> at that time was expanded so enormously in the respect of both quantity and quality that it was not comparable to the fomer days. The literary magazines like Jak-ka-segie or Hyundai-Minhak bound writings of various researchers and featured them. That was also one of the characteristics of the research of this period.
After 1998, the center of the Toji research has moved to the group of literary researcher from the group of critics. The presenting paper of the outcome has also changed to the academic journals from the literary magazines. Many books and doctorate thesis themed at the research of Park Kyeong Ni or Toji were released at that time. The researchers who got the Ph.D from studying Park Kyeong Ni or Toji have communicated with each other and intensified the outcome of the study in earnest.
"The Association of Toji" was founded based on those achievements in 2014. The Association of Toji made the numerous Toji researchers networking, and trying to communicate with the public academically. The themes of Toji studies are expected to be deeper and wider thanks to the foundation of the Association of Toji.
