This study focuses on the Taesil(placenta chambers of the royals of the Joseon dynasty), which moved to the Seosamneung area from 1928 to 1934, Japanese colonial era. During this study, several field studies were conducted on the location where the placenta chambers were first installed and where they were relocated, and a comprehensive database was organized. The encyclopedic archive of "Joseon Taesil" consists of photographs, 3D images, maps, and text data of historical records to help people understand the cultural heritage and its historical and cultural background.
During the Japanese colonial period, various rituals previously practiced by the royal family were reduced or abolished by Yi Wang-jik. In this environment, Taeshils were relocated to Seosamneung in the name of preservation and management. Choanji, which had created Taeshils in various places across the country, was also neglected without being subject to proper preservation and management and was transferred to the private sector, or the status quo was greatly changed. Although there have been efforts to restore the damage and highlight the historical meaning of Taeshil, research results and related field information are inaccessible to researchers and citizens that are interested in this matter.
This study focuses on solving the current problems by constructing a database for the 54 Taeshils of the Joseon Dynasty located in Seosamneung and suggesting plans for data usage.
First, after examining Taeshil’s characteristics, its institutional changes, and the process of relocation to Seosamneung, relevant basic data of 54 Taeshils was collected and organized. This information is classified as metadata and designed in terms of a wiki document. After classes were categorized based on Ontology, attributes and relations were defined for each node type, and a semantic network was implemented to identify the factors that had a semantic association between each Taeshil’s critical information. Finally, the story of each Taeshil through the data-to-data association over the implemented semantic network and present the possibility that this could lead to another knowledge.
