음악치료가 ADHD 유아의 주의집중력과 자기통제력에 미치는 효과 = The Effect of Music Therapy Programon Attention and Self-Control Abilities of Young Children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

The Effects of Music Therapy Program on Attention and Self-Control Abilities of Young Children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity DisorderChung, Mi-Ra The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of music therapy program on young children's attention and self-control abilities with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. To address the research purpose, the research questions were posed as below:First, are there any differences in attention abilities between the ADHD children of the experimental group that takes music therapy program and those of the control group that doesn't?Second, are there any differences in self-control abilities between the ADHD children of the experimental group that takes music therapy program and those of the control group that doesn't?A total of 21 children were assigned to the experimental and control group. The subjects participated weekly 3 sessions in the music therapy program for 8 weeks. There were 24 sessions and each session lasted approximately 40 minutes. The data were analyzed by the ‘t-test’. The result of this study showed that music therapy program was effective to improve attention and self-control abilities of the ADHD children. It suggests that music therapy program is effective as a way of offering music activities to the ADHD children.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유치원 ADHD 유아에게 음악치료 프로그램을 개발, 적용함으로써 음악치료가 ADHD 유아의 주의집중력과 자기통제력의 증진에 미치는 효과를 고찰하고자 하였다. 실험처치는 G시에 소재한 H유치원, K유치원 및 G유치원의 유아들 가운데 ADHD 유아라고 판별된 실험집단 11명과 비교집단 10명을 대상으로 2005년 3월 21일부터 5월 14일까지 8주 동안 주 3회, 40분 수업으로 총 24회 프로그램으로 진행되었다. 본 연구 결과, 음악치료는 유치원 ADHD 유아들의 주의집중력과 자기통제력 증진에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.
