This study is about the literature of travel sketches and the various records by the Buddhist Monks in the middle of Jo-seon period. It is quite rare to see that kind of genre from the Buddhist collection of works in that period. The `Ki(記)` means namely `record` and `remembrance` of the literal genre which is created not to be forgotten. <AkKi(樂記)> and <HakKi(學記)> in 『MunCheMyungByun(文體明辯)』 written by Soe, Sa-Jeung are considered to be the origin of Ki. Then Han Yu`s <WhaKi(畵記)> and Yu, Jong-Won`s <YuSanKi(遊山記)> in Dang(唐) dynasty are regarded as the standards in this kind of style. He also said that writing of narration is its original form and appending the logical argument in the latter is its varied form. Some examples of Ki are the records of certain pavilion, painting, hall, personal experience, trip and even a daily life etc. First of all, this article summarizes the characteristics of Ki which is written by the Buddhist Monks in the middle Jo-seon period. Secondly, `Ki` genre is divided into three branches: the record of sightseeing in nature, the record of repair work on the damage of the temple, and the record related to the logical arguments. Lastly, the special intention and the beauty of those literature are considered.
