As the climate crisis articulated as an all-out crisis, along with energy transition on a global scale, Korea will also seek energy transition and economic stimulus through the Korean New Deal. This article explored the cartography of society centered on energy transition tasks with material politics perspective, along with Korean New Deal, which creates infrastructure politics. In the process, we explored implication and form for transition politics that can be articulated in the energy future and democratic landscape of the Korean New Deal's intervention with devices and the public. The article also experimented the potentialities provided by digital methods and issue mapping as a means of viewing the landscape of energy transition in a vast area over a long period of time. In particular, we explored the possibility of using bundles of tools, designing, soldering and bending in a way that meets the research objectives, and constructing a device of research introspectively without stepping into dichotomies of qualitative and quantitative research.
The large-scale "green transition" project, which is currently being highlighted, tends to mobilize actors who can participate in the heavy and large-scale device industries, mainly in blueprints drawn by industrial capital and technocrats. In the local transition policy, the type of project is also limited by providing state funding for industrial complexes and renewable energy generation complexes. Especially in the fourth quarter of 2020, questions and public discussions about who can draw what future are very rare. In this sense, the real test of transition politics is to use the experiment of recursively expanding the transition air and device beyond the well-established public and devices as a central device for transition politics. And in the process, it can be said that politics and communication codes for hybridization beyond the ethical and communication forms of social actors in the public arena are key to future energy democracy.
