The purpose of this study was to investigate on the prediction of maximal oxygen uptake of Korean adolescence from 12 to 20 years of age, on developmental tendency of aerobic work capacity and on sex differences. Subjects were measured 1000m running record by the unit of 0.1 second and were monitered heart rate by telemeter system of heart checker (Senoh #HNF-108). Maximal oxygen uptake values were estimated by indirect measurement of Ishii's nomogram.
The results of this study were as follows:
1. In males, the maximal oxygen uptake was increased till 18 years. There is no change was indicated above the 18 years.
2. In females, the maximal oxygen uptake was increased till 16 years. There is no change was indicated above the 16 years.
3. Both males and females, the maximal oxygen uptake per kilogram of body weight was actually decreased between 12 years and 20 years.
4. General value of maximal oxygen uptake and maximal oxygen uptake per kilogram of body weight in females were less than those of males at the same of 20 years. Female's value was about 75% of male's.
