헨델의 〈하프 콘체르토〉 원전과 그랑자니 편곡본 비교 분석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 헨델의 하프 콘체르토 원전과 그랑자니 편곡본에 나타난 음악적 특징과 연주법을 비교 분석하여 이 곡을 연주하고자 하는 하프 연주자들에게 도움을 주는 것이다. 이를 위해 하프의 역사와 발달 과정, 헨델의 생애와 작품 배경, 그랑자니의 생애와 작품 배경을 알아본 후, 그랑자니 편곡본이 헨델 원전을 어떻게 현대적으로 재해석했는지를 심층적으로 분석하고 효과적인 연주법을 제시하였다.
그 결과 헨델의 하프 콘체르토 원전은 명확한 화성과 간결한 통주저음, 단순한 다이내믹 대조, 유연한 템포, 절제된 장식음, 자유로운 연주 관습 등 바로크 음악의 특징을 충실히 반영하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한, 그랑자니 편곡본은 현대 하프의 확장된 음역과 완벽한 반음 기능을 활용하여 원전보다 풍부한 화성과 다이내믹, 아티큘레이션, 연주 기법을 구현함으로써 원전을 하나의 하프 독주곡으로 재해석한 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 하프 콘체르토를 효과적으로 연주하고자 하는 연주자들은 헨델의 원전이 바로크 시대의 관행에 따라 기본적인 뼈대만 제시하고 연주자가 자신만의 스타일로 연주할 수 있도록 자율성을 부여했다는 점을 인식함으로써 그랑자니의 편곡본에 나타난 화음과 다이내믹, 템포, 아티큘레이션, 장식음 등을 그대로 재현하기보다는 다양한 방식으로 연주해보는 것이 매우 중요하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to provide guidance to harpists who wish to perform Händel’s Harp Concerto in B-flat Major HWV 294, by comparing and analyzing the musical characteristics and performance techniques between Händel’s original version and Grandjany’s arrangement. To achieve this, the study examines the history and development of the harp, the life and musical background of Händel, and the background of Grandjany and his works. Based on these insights, an in-depth analysis is conducted on how Grandjany reinterpreted Händel’s original work for the modern harp, and effective performance techniques are suggested.
As a result, Händel's Harp Concerto original version was analyzed to faithfully reflect Baroque music's characteristics such as clear harmony, straightforward basso continuo, simple dynamic contrast, flexible tempo, restrained ornamentation, and free performance customs. In addition, it was found that the Grandjany arrangement reinterpreted the original as a harp solo piece by realizing harmony, dynamic, articulation, and erformance techniques richer than the original, utilizing the expanded range and perfect chromatic function of the modern harp.
In conclusion, harpists seeking to perform the Harp Concerto effectively should recognize that Händel’s original was written as a framework in line with Baroque practice, allowing performers the freedom to interpret it in their own style. Thus, instead of rigidly reproducing the chords, dynamics, tempo, articulations, and ornamentations found in Grandjany’s arrangement, it is highly beneficial for performers to explore diverse approaches to interpretation.
