The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of aquatic exercise program combined with self-help group on pain, weight. body mass index, self-efficacy, quality of life in osteoarthritis patients. This program was carried out three times a week for 6 weeks by 4 small groups of patients among 21 patients in regular swimming pool. Data were analyzed by paired t-tests for pre and post comparison.
Study results indicate that all patients participated aquatic exercise program improved pain, body weight, body mass index, self-efficacy, and quality of life. These results indicated that the aquatic exercise program combined the self-help group can be recommended to the osteoar-thritis patients as well as the rheumatic arthritis patients.
