이상(理想)과 일상(日常) 사이, 근대계몽기 신문 수록 시가(詩歌)와 근대적 여성의 형성

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 근대계몽기(1984~1910)에 발간된 신문을 대상으로 여성 관련 시가(詩歌)를 추출하여 내용과 형식 및 매체와의 관련성을 분석하고, 시사(詩史)적 위상과 사회·문화적 의미를 탐색하였다. 이를 통해 당대 시 담론 선도자들이 매체의 특성과 여성 담론을 연결하여 달성하고자 했던 정치, 문화적 맥락을 분석하고 전통 장르의 시 형식들이 여성 담론과 길항하며 근대시의 모습으로 분화해가는 이중성과 복합성을 추적하였다. 당대 공적 담론 유포의 주도적 역할을 담당한『대한매일신보』(1904~1910), 『제국신문』(1898~1910), 『독립신문』(1896~1899), 『대한크리스도인회보』(1898~1900) 수록 시가들은 전통적 여성 개념과 위상 및 역할이 근대적 맥락으로 전유되는 과정을 추적하는데 최적의 자료이다. 본 연구를 통해 매체의 선도성을 넘어 사회 일반의 문화 맥락으로 확산 수용된 당대 여성 담론의 역할과 특성을 명확히 할 수 있었다.
본 연구의 주요 내용은 첫째, 근대계몽기 신문 수록 시가를 텍스트로 삼아 여성 관련 시가를 추출, 비교 분석하였다. 둘째, 동시대 발행된 각종 매체 수록 여성 담론을 비교 텍스트로 삼아 공통성과 차이를 밝혔다. 셋째, 시가의 여성담론이 유교적 전통 논리와 근대성 논리로 전유되는 양상을 고찰할 것이다. 해당 텍스트 내용이 특정 행위를 전통가치와 문명가치로 각각 상대화시키는 맥락은 여성 담론을 이데올로기의 정당성으로 전유하는 전략을 보여준다. 넷째, 시가의 여성 담론 형성과 일반화 과정을 구체적으로 드러내었다. 다섯째, 대상 시가 내 다양한 문종 및 표현 방식을 분석하여 창작자들이 어떤 감성적 수사를 동원하여 여성 가치를 구성하는지 고찰하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 본 연구는 여성을 둘러싼 시 담론의 감정 언어들이 창작자와 수용자의 욕망에 결합해 가치와 개념을 형성하고 공감의 언어로 전이되어 자발적 수용성을 높인 과정을 드러내었다.
본 연구는 근대계몽기 신문 수록 여성 관련 시가가 근대적 인식체계와 교섭, 경합해 새로운 담론과 개념을 구성한 방식을 드러내기 위한 방법론으로 ‘매체론’ 및 ‘역사발전론’ 등 사회학 이론을 적용하는 동시에 ‘이상’, ‘일상’ 등의 키워드로 대상 텍스트를 재독하였다. 이를 위한 하위 방법론으로 첫째, 한 담론의 가치체계와 개연성은 매체에 의해 확보된다는 주장에 동의하여 매체의 전달 내용, 전달 과정에 집중하고 매체를 둘러싼 환경과 문맥을 분석하였다. 둘째, 당대 의미행위자들의 언어텍스트 구성과 표상, 그 안에 담긴 기대지평을 분석하였다. 셋째, 시가 주제에 대한 문화적 맥락 탐구를 통해 시가와 사회 담론 관계에 의한

This study set out to identify poetry and poems related to women in the newspapers issued during the modern enlightenment period, analyze them in terms of content, form, and connections to the media, and examine their status in the history of poetry and their social and cultural meanings. Putting a special focus on Daehanmaeilsinbo, which played a leading role in the circulation of public discourse during those days, the study analyzed the political and cultural contexts that those poetry and poems tried to achieve by connecting the media features to the women's discourse and traced the complexity of poetic forms in the traditional genres contending with the women's discourse and differentiating themselves into modern poetry. The subject poetry and poems addressed the leading women's discourse during the modern enlightenment period with the logic of Confucianism and modernity and thus expanded their scope even to the traditionally male sectors.
