The purpose of this study was to review of a literature study of Grounded Theory.
Grounded Theory was first developed by Glaser and Struss(1967) to address issues raised within sociology about the understanding of human behavior.
The theoretical base for grounded theory is symbolic interactionism. Symbolic interactionism stresses that human behavior is developed through interaction with others. through continuous processes of negotiation and renegotiation. People construct their own realities from the symbols around them through interaction. Therefors, individuals are active participants in creating meaning in a situation.
The primary purpose of grounded theory is to generate explanatory theories of human behavior, It is discovered, developed, and then verified systematic data collection and analysis of data related to an identified phenomenon. Data collection, sampling. and analysis all occur simultaneously as the study progresses, and sampling and further data collection are bases on the emerging theory.
