A starting method is regarded as of great importance in track and field on which all physical exercise is based. In addition to the three most popularly used starting methods at present bunch, medium, elongated, I have attempted to devise a new starting method by compromising the three old ones. This new starting method which I call the compromised for convenience sake, has proved to be most suitable for Korean athletes, especially for beginners.
I have compared and studied the recards for the four starting methods including the compromised one. I have added up and found the mean of the records of time taken to run from the starting point to a ten-metre, twenty-metre or thirty metre point by each of the four methods. When compared with each other, lunch starting method was found preferable to any other one at the ten metre point, and the compromised method turned out to be more disirable at the twenty-metre or thirty-metre point.
In view of the results so far achieved, the compomised has generally showed better records than any other starting mehtod, and moreover by far the better for beginners of running exercise.
While the other methods were planned to be fit for high stature, this compromised starting method is considered just appropriate for short-statured Korean people.
