文化財保護法 및 文化財保存現況에 關한 硏究 = A Study on the Cultural Properties Protection Law and Case Study for Preservation of Cultural Asset

Cultural Properties is valuable in terms of preservation in the sense that it is representative of the creation of every single culture by an ethnic group. Moreover, it is a concentration of an ethnic groups's wisdom and also the core of a cultural identity establishment that evolves as a groundwork for advanced development of future cultures.
Architectural Properties have a difficult time trying to preserve its original form due to limitations of building materials or environmental problems such as fire, repairs, or remodeling. Therefore, preservation can be viewed as an effort to extend the period for it to maintain its present look There are various ways of effort and methods of preservation such as political efforts though the use of laws or scientifical methods that allows extended preservation to restoration known as Cultural Properties Preservation Science. Methods of preservation include Prevention from damage, Repairing, Reinforcement, Restoration (Restoration can be viewed as a way of preservation in a wide point of view.
In order to find preventive preservation methods and to find various methods for practical use of cultural properties, we analyzed the preservation and restoration status and the utilization status of cultural properties focusing on nationally appointed wooden cultural properties and folk villages.
First, the types of cultural properties preservation are mostly focusing singular preservation and its content is also inclined toward form preservation, therefore more various methods of preservation are requested.
Second, Cultural properties is a cultural heritage to the next generation, but it has limitations for maintenance due to its physical quality thus preservation activities for prevention and provision are extremely important.
Third, in the application aspect of cultural properties, it is roughly divided into standard maintenance and to standard inspection thus disabling its various ways of application. It is required to research more various and long term application programs.
Fourth, the restoration of a cultural property is very important as a work that establishes the dignity and identity of our culture through the reproduction of a vanished history, but it has very few examples of restoration and even if restored, they are restored in the same spot around an architectural separate entity. Furthermore, They focus more on repairing than restoring
Last, destruction and damage caused to those properties are mainly done by humans. In other words, any effort for preservation of these properties can be viewed as an act of destruction.
Therefore, the protection of these properties is not only about just preserving its original form, but also about how to make it harmonize with the city. It has to be approached not from a conservative point of view, but from a historical and visual environment preserving point of view. In order to achieve these goals, it requires the positive participation of civil organizations and the positive acceptance and economic support of the government.
The purpose of this research is in the classification of preservation and restoration types in order to find various methods for practically preserving cultural properties by seizing an idea of its previous applications.
