안동(安東) 김문(金門)의 지식논쟁과 지식권력의 형성 -농암(農巖) 금창협(金昌協)의 학문적 입장을 중심으로- = Knowledge Debates of the Kims of Andong and the Formation of Knowledge Power: The Case of the Academic Position of Nong-am Kim Chang-hyeop

The ideological legitimacy or the truth of knowledge that made the Kims of Andong keep their power as a political group for a long period was obtained by the intellectual researches and debates of the educated persons from the Kims of Andong. Considering the theoretical researches and debates, the main character was Kim Chang-hyeop, and his younger brother, Kim Chang-heup and his grandson, Kim Won-haeng took over his ideas. The disputes related with them were the debate on perception, the criticism on Park Se-dang``s Sabyeonrok (A Record of Speculation), and the controversy on the human nature and animal nature. Through the three debates, the Kims of Andong established the academic identity of their own, and secured the status of the theoretical spokesperson in Noron (Patriarch``s faction) of Seoin (Westerner). Especially through the disputes on the human nature and animal nature, they could get the theoretical identity of Nangnon (theory of Nak) that differentiated themselves from the intellectuals of Horon (theory of Ho). They embraced the criticism and view of Toegye``s philosophy even though they succeeded in the theories of Zhu Xi and Yi I, and therefore the academic position of them helped them to get the capacious mind of the group in power with the flexibility based on the vested rights of Seoin Noron.
