This study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of group counseling program for juvenile delinquents according to session evaluation and curative factors. The data were collected from 49 delinquents who participated in 6-session structured group counseling programs performed at juvenile reform school over 5 times. The Session Evaluation Questionnaire(SEQ) and impression report were administered after each session and Curative Factors Questionnaire(CFQ) was administered after the last session. First, the results indicate that there were significant differences among sessions in two dimensions of smoothness and positivity of the SEQ. Overall the scores of smoothness and positivity showed similar patterns throughout the sessions, while depth scores showed the reverse pattern. Second, universality, family reenactment, existential factors, installment of hope, cohesiveness were rated as high among 12 factors of CFQ. In addition to those five factors, self-understanding were perceived as helpful in impression report. Third, family reenactment factor was found to be related to the second session, while cohesiveness factor was found to be related to the third session, which implies that activities included in a particular session were significantly related to curative factors perceived as helpful by participants in the structured group counseling program. Finally, the implications for counseling juvenile delinquents in the context of structuring the group process and limitations of this study were discussed.
