Purpose: The purpose of this study was to descriptive survey research to identify activities, role conflict and job satisfaction of Advanced Practice Nurses(APNs) certificate holders, and factors which affect the relationship among them, and job satisfaction. Method: For achieving this purpose, a survey was conducted with people who completed the APN course in the G educational institution, Gyeongnam Province, were living in Gyeongnam Province during data collection, and possessed APN certificates certified by The Minister of Health and Welfare, for two months from January 28th to March 28th 2013. The questionnaire consisted of questions regarding general characteristics of APNs certificate holders, job characteristics of APN task performers, role conflict and job satisfaction. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe post-hoc test, Pearson's correlation and Stepwise multiple regression in SPSS/WIN 18.0. Result: 73.4% of 154 APNs certificate holders were Home Health Care APNs, 14.9% of them were Geriatrics APNs, 11.0% of them were Oncology APNs, 3.3% of them were Psychiatry APNs, 1.3% of them were Public Health APNs, and 0.7% of them were Emergency Care⦁Clinical⦁Critical Care APNs. Also, 23 APNs certificate holders(14.9%) performed tasks as APN. The average score for role conflict of APN task performers was 3.25(5-point scale), and the role conflict resulting from working environment factors recorded the highest score at 3.30. The average score for role conflict of non-APN task performers was 3.71, and the role conflict resulting from role ambiguity factors recorded the highest score at 3.92. Age, task performance as an APN, types of place of work, position and clinical career were significantly associated with role conflict. The average score for job satisfaction of APN task performers and non-APN task performers was 3.28 and 3.16(5-point scale), respectively. In both groups, professional status factors recorded the highest score at 3.97 and 3.56, respectively. Age, marriage status, monthly income, types of place of work, position, clinical career and certificate acquisition fields were significantly related with job satisfaction. There was a negative correlation between job satisfaction and role conflict, and amongst characteristics of APNs certificate holders and subordinate factors of role conflict, age, monthly income and deficiency of job-related collaboration affected job satisfaction. Conclusion: It is considered that for improving job satisfaction, it is required to form working environment which members cooperate with one another, by getting rid of unreasonable order or pressure from other department and also, there would be a need for a study to verify the effect of nursing service provided by APNs in order to activate the APN system.
