료함호(廖咸浩) ＜유민소설(遺民小說) ≪홍루몽(紅樓夢)≫＞의 경환선고 평가에 대한 몇 가지 문제 제기 = A Study on the Valuation and Significance of Fairy Disenchantment (警幻仙姑) in Hongloumeng: Focusing on Professor Liao’s Thesis “Jinghuan yu juemi” (警幻與覺迷)

This paper indicates Professor Liao’s some problems of valuation of Fairy Disenchantment (警幻仙姑) from the point of view in novel, and discusses the true meaning of Fairy Disenchantment (警幻仙姑) in Hongloumeng. Fairy Disenchantment (警幻仙姑) in Hongloumeng is the character who appeared frequently in the beginning but she disappeared quickly in the novel. Nevertheless, it is an undeniable fact that she presents the important subject of Hongloumeng, foretells the future destinies of main characters of the novel and is one of the most important characters in Hongloumeng. But the researchers’ views of her are sometimes different and the studies about her are superficial and not so animated. Professor Liao’s thesis “Jinghuan yu juemi” (警幻與覺迷)(≪曹雪芹研究≫, 2016年 第2期, pp.178-184) is very fresh, but it has some problems in the aspect of view point in novel. It seems that Professor Liao considers the thought of Hongloumeng’s writer is just composed of the two opinions of Fairy Disenchantment (警幻仙姑) and Bao Yu (寶玉). It somewhat simplified the writer’s thought, and it also neglected the point of view in novel. The main viewpoint of Hongloumeng’s writer is a selected aggregate of many secondary viewpoints, so nobody can completely reflect the opinion of the writer. Besides, observing from the accurate understanding and appreciation of the novel, Liao’s thesis distorted the original meaning and importance of Fairy Disenchantment (警幻仙姑) given by the writer. Hongloumeng should be studied from various angles including ‘suoyin’ (索隱) work, but the most important thing in the study is the comprehension of the writing idea and aesthetic appreciation of the novel based on the general understanding of the novel and author. Otherwise, it would end in a superficial research result and only reduce the profundity and imaginative power of Hongloumeng.
