공급사슬 개념을 활용한 물류활동의 공간적 분석 = The Spatial Analysis of Logistics Activities based on “Supply Chain” Concept

A supply chain is the most popular concept in logistics studies which shows the connectivity of globaleconomic activities very well. All elements in the supply chain confront severe global competitions with other supplychains. Therefore the establishment of an efficient logistics system is essential for the survival of supply chain. The aimof this paper proposes to introduce new methods in logistics research based on the concept of supply chaincompetition. It corresponds with the geographical research tradition which has analysed global economy activities,based on chain concepts. The development of research methods may open new opportunities for themultidisciplinary researches between geography and other academic areas.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

물류 연구에서 가장 보편적으로 활용되는 공급사슬(supply chain) 개념은 긴밀하게 연결된 글로벌 경제활동의 연속성을 잘 함축하고 있다. 오늘날 공급사슬에 속한 모든 경제주체들은 개별 경쟁이 아닌 공급사슬 전체가 경쟁하는 것으로 인식되고 있으며, 따라서 효율적인 물류체계의 구축은 공급사슬의 경쟁력을 제고하는 동시에 해당 사슬의 지속가능 여부를 결정하는 핵심요소가 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 물류시스템의 효율성과 경쟁력을 강조하는 공급사슬 개념을 활용하여 다양한 물류활동 사례들의 공간적 패턴들을 분석하고자 하였다. 이러한 노력은 글로벌 경제활동의 함의를 분석해 온 지리학 연구 전통을 계승하는 것이자 향후 화물유동과 관련된 학제적 연구협력을 모색하는데도 기여할 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.
