현대 건축의 구조적 특성을 응용한 장신구 조형연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

인간의 자기표현 수단의 한 부분으로 뗄 수 없을 만큼 우리 가까이에 있는 장신구는 그 의미나 형태가 무척 광범위하고 다양하다. 즉, 장신구를 예술의 한 매개체로서 간주하는 창작물로서의 장신구부터 상업적인 대량 생산되는 장신구에 이르기까지 그 범위가 넓어지고 있다. 과거의 장신구가 착용자의 재산과 사회적 위상을 상징하는 도구로서의 가치를 가졌다면 자본주의의 발달과 산업화의 결과로 장신구 또한 산업화되어 대중화가 이루어지었다. 또한 현대에 이르러서는 장신구는 또다시 새로운 의미를 찾게 되었다. 개성적인 조형 형태와 그것이 갖고 있는 의미와 메시지를 찾게 되고 이는 착용자의 개성을 표현하는데 일익을 담당하게 되었다. 이러한 새로운 형태의 창조와 개성적인 표현을 위해 여러 문화들 그리고 여러 분야에서 쓰인 조형요소들에 대한 채용이 이루어지고 있다.
이에 본 연구는 인간의 삶에 필요한 요소 즉, 주(住)에 해당되는 건축물을 의(衣)에 해당하는 장신구로 표현하는 과정에서 현대건축물이 갖고 있는 기하학적인 형태와 구조적인 방법에서의 조형특성을 연구하였다. 장신구 조형 전개 방법으로는,
첫째, 건축의 기본 형태를 유지하는데 필수적인 도형인 원, 삼각, 사각 등 가장 기본적인 기하학 형태를 장신구 단면으로 하여 외형적으로 단순한 이미지를 표현하였고 선이나 면의반복 그리고 나선형의 움직임을 통하여 조형적 리듬감을 주었다.
둘째, 건축물이 갖고 있는 재료적인 측면에서의 느낌을 표현하기 위해 선구성, 면구성, 선과면의 복합적인 구성으로 분리하여 디자인 하였다. 선구성은 경쾌하고 공간적인 느낌을 주는 표현으로 표면에 광택을 내어 처리 하였고 면구성은 무게감을 표현하기위해 표면을 거칠게 처리하였다.
셋째, 트러스(Truss) 구조, 쉘(Shell) 구조 등 현대 건축물의 구조적인 특성을 응용하여 간접적으로 주변 건축물에서 본 듯한 이미지를 연상케 하였다.
선으로 구성된 반복적인 형태를 정교하게 표현하기 위해 직접적인 선 작업 후 정밀주조를 이용하였고 판금작업을 하였다.
건축 구조물에서 보여 지는 정확함, 볼륨(volume)으로 형성되는 공간감 등을 장신구에 표현하여 조형성이 강조된 새로운 형태의 장신구를 제안하고자 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The meanings and shapes of ornaments in these days are extensive as they are a way of expressing individuality of human beings. That is, the scope of ornaments expands from a medium in fine arts to a commercial item massively produced. Ornaments have become popularized with the development of capitalism and industrialization differing from their old values that they were a means of symbolizing the wealth and the social status of wearer. In the contemporary society they have different meanings. Characteristic shapes are a way of expressing individuality of wearers. So, to create novel shapes and to express individuality mould elements in different culture and fields are employed. Accordingly, the study researches on the mould characters of geometrical forms and structural methods employed in modern architectures because architecture are clothing of shelter, the essential element in human life.
The methods used in developing moulds of ornaments are as follows;
Firstly, the essential forms that maintain the basic shape of architecture such as a circle, a triangle and a quadrangle are employed in designing ornaments. They are used in planes of ornaments to express the simple image. Lines and repeated planes are used to express the rhythm of moulds.
Secondly, to express sensation of material aspects of architecture line constructions, plane constructions, the mixture of lines and planes are separately designed.
Line constructions are glossed to express their images of delightful and spacious sensation, while plane constructions are roughly treated to express heaviness.
Thirdly, the structures of truss and shell, the structural characteristics of contemporary architectures are used to design ornaments to give the familiar image of architecture around us.
To express the forms expressed with repeated lines more sophisticatedly lost wax casting and metal plated are done after direct work on the lines.
Space sensation formed by precision and volume of architectures is reconstructed in ornaments to suggest novel forms of ornaments with highlighted moulds.
