An experiment was attempted to determine the protein requirement of Korean when subjects were fed on the Korean mixed diet at the energy intake level of 40 kcal per kg of body weight per day. Six healthy female college students aged 19 to 21 years old, and 43kg to 53kg in body weight, were employed as the study subjects. They were fed on four kinds of Korean mixed diets at protein levels of 0.45, 0.60, 0.75 and 0.90g per kg of body weight per day individually for five days respectively. This study was conducted to observe protein intake, urinary and fecal nitrogen losses, true digestibility of protein and net protein utilization in the body and nitrogen balances were calculated. The results obtained were summarized as follows.
    1. The protein at the energy intake level of 40kcal per kg of the body weight per day was estimated to 122.5mg N/kg/day (0.77g protein/kg/day) in this experiment.
    2. The protein allowance of young Korean female adults who were fed on Korean mixed diets at the energy intake level of 40 kcal/kg/body weight per day was estimated to 142.1mg N/kg/day (0.89g protein/kg/day) in this condition.
    3. The true digestibility of protein of yong Korean female adults who were fed on Korean mixed diets ranged from 79.1 to 86.9%, the average was 83.8% 3.7%.
    4. Net protein utilization of Korean mixed diets ranged from 26.1 to 44.2%, the average was 38.0+8.5%.
